    Company Description

Aslan Renewables is a modular hydro company based in Prince Edward Island developing modern hydro systems designed to reactivate existing water infrastructure. As the company prepared to scale into British Columbia, it needed a clearer commercialization strategy for a market with a distinct utility, regulatory, and partnership landscape.

    Challenge

Aslan was entering a new market with a complex utility environment led by BC Hydro, a fragmented non-dilutive funding landscape, and a need for a thoughtful First Nations partnership strategy. The company also needed clear materials that could communicate the opportunity in a way that made sense to Indigenous economic development corporations and other prospective partners.

    What We Did

ClimateDoor helped Aslan build its BC market entry playbook from the ground up. We mapped the provincial utility and regulatory landscape, identified relevant non-dilutive funding pathways, and developed a First Nations partnership strategy centered on Indigenous economic development corporations. We also created outward-facing materials to communicate the opportunity and benefits to Nations in a more accessible and commercially relevant way.

Beyond strategy, ClimateDoor assembled an expert roundtable through its ambassador network, including the former head of Clean Energy BC and specialists in virtual power plants and virtual power purchase agreements. We also supported grant applications, conducted outreach to 100 stranded dams across Canada, and opened conversations with BC Hydro, TELUS, and multiple First Nations across British Columbia.
