    Company Description

GIO Mobility is a Canadian mobility scooter company whose enclosed scooter platform combines weather protection, comfort, and independent transportation in a compact electric format. Its fully enclosed model aligned well with community transportation use cases where safety, accessibility, and all-season practicality matter. (GIO Mobility Canada)

    Challenge

GIO wanted to engage more effectively with Indigenous communities and better position its enclosed mini car-style scooters as a clean, practical transportation option for Nations across Canada. This mattered because transportation barriers in many First Nations can be significant, including limited access to licenses, exposure to cold conditions, and reliance on ATVs that can create safety risks. Before this work, the primary use cases for the product had been resorts and other ICPs.

    What We Did

ClimateDoor helped GIO define a clearer value proposition for its enclosed scooters in Indigenous community settings. We developed an Indigenous partnerships playbook, clarified the strongest community use cases, and helped GIO understand how to do business with Indigenous communities in a way that was more culturally aligned. We also helped frame the product around practical applications such as Elder transportation and youth engagement, based on ClimateDoor’s direct community experience.

    Impact

    • Indigenous partnerships playbook developed
    • Clearer value proposition defined for Indigenous community transportation
    • 6 cars sold into communities across British Columbia and Manitoba
    • 5 additional units sold
    • Partnership developed with Red River College in Manitoba to explore a bespoke colder-climate version
    • New pathway created for GIO to lead in transportation solutions for Indigenous communities

    Outcome

ClimateDoor helped GIO move from a more general enclosed scooter use case into a clearer Indigenous community transportation strategy. The result was early sales into First Nations, a stronger culturally aligned market position, and a new institutional partnership to explore colder-climate product development.
