    Company Description

Habitat is a British Columbia-based aquaculture company using recirculating aquaculture system technology within a broader aquaponics platform.

    Challenge

Habitat had a compelling vision for modular onshore fish farms, but needed a practical go-to-market strategy that could align project deployment with the right First Nations partners and the right capital stack. The company needed a clear pathway for how Indigenous partnerships could support both project development and access to grants and other financing required to advance a large-scale core unit build.

    What We Did

ClimateDoor developed a go-to-market plan focused on how Habitat could work with First Nations as long-term partners in deploying onshore aquaculture infrastructure. We helped frame Indigenous groups not just as stakeholders, but as strategic partners in project development, grant access, and capital allocation. The work combined ClimateDoor’s experience in finance, Indigenous business, and non-dilutive funding to create a more executable commercialization pathway for a complex hardware-led opportunity.

    Impact

    • 3 Indigenous partners identified
    • 1 Indigenous partner now moving ahead at full speed
    • $150,000 feasibility study grant approved
    • Financing conversations now active with Farm Credit Canada and First Nations Bank of Canada
    • Capital pathway being developed to support a $25M core unit build-out

    Outcome

Habitat moved from a high-potential onshore aquaculture concept to a more structured commercialization pathway built around Indigenous partnership, grant funding, and project finance. The result is live partner traction, approved non-dilutive funding, and active work to assemble the capital required for deployment.
